||The advantages of using a thermal break are the following:
Saving energy. Legislation is becoming stricter in terms of energy efficiency. The purpose is to reduce CO2 emissions.
Limiting condensation. In cold climates, when the temperature is very low outside and there is a relatively high level of humidity inside, condensation on the interior side of the profiles occurs. This is due to the fact that temperature on the interior side of the profile is below dew point. With the thermal break, the superficial temperature of the interior profile is increased, preventing the appearance of moisture.
The possibility of having dual colour profiles. The use of polyamide strips allows the use of aluminum profiles with a different colour on the internal and external sides of the window.
Compliance, not only of the Kyoto Protocol, but also of the Technical Building Code (in Spain) which requires that enclosures are aluminum with thermal bridge break for installations in 80% of the Spanish geography.
Polyamide profiles have excellent mechanical properties and resistance to external agents (sun, water, chemicals) that make them suitable for the fenestration sector. Fibreglass incorporated into the profiles provides stability regardless of force and stress or strain.
They have high tensile strength even after being subjected to fatigue tests.

The thermal conductivity of polyamide used is 0,3 W/m2 ÂºK, which is 500 times less than the conductivity of aluminum.
The lower the U value (the thermal conductivity), the better the insulation.
In colder areas this is achieved with wider strips, generally of more than 24mm.
In warm areas, the Fabricators do not need a greater profile thickness and therefore the polyamide strips that can be used do not generally exceed 15,0 mm.

A thermal break is an element of low thermal conductivity placed in an assembly to prevent the flow of thermal energy between conductive materials so that losses are significantly reduced. In the case of aluminium windows, a plastic separating profile is inserted into the aluminium that makes up the window frame.
The most commonly used â€œbreakâ€ systems for aluminium windows and doors are polyamide 6.6 strips reinforced with 25% fibreglass. This is one of the few thermoplastic products which are authorized by the UNE-EN 14024 standard.
