Polyamide Profiles

Quality

Quality means
client satisfaction to us

The advantages of using a thermal break are the following:

Saving energy. Legislation is becoming stricter in terms of energy efficiency. The purpose is to reduce CO2 emissions.

Limiting condensation. In cold climates, when the temperature is very low outside and there is a relatively high level of humidity inside, condensation on the interior side of the profiles occurs. This is due to the fact that temperature on the interior side of the profile is below dew point. With the thermal break, the superficial temperature of the interior profile is increased, preventing the appearance of moisture.

The possibility of having dual colour profiles. The use of polyamide strips allows the use of aluminum profiles with a different colour on the internal and external sides of the window.

Compliance, not only of the Kyoto Protocol, but also of the Technical Building Code (in Spain) which requires that enclosures are aluminum with thermal bridge break for installations in 80% of the Spanish geography.

Polyamide profiles have excellent mechanical properties and resistance to external agents (sun, water, chemicals) that make them suitable for the fenestration sector. Fibreglass incorporated into the profiles provides stability regardless of force and stress or strain.

Main features:

Mechanical characteristics:

They have high tensile strength even after being subjected to fatigue tests.

Little deformation.

A very similar coefficient of expansion to aluminum.

Stability in spite of independent opposing stresses

High impact resistance.

Thermal characteristics:

The thermal conductivity of polyamide used is 0,3 W/m2 ºK, which is 500 times less than the conductivity of aluminum.

The lower the U value (the thermal conductivity), the better the insulation.

In colder areas this is achieved with wider strips, generally of more than 24mm.

In warm areas, the Fabricators do not need a greater profile thickness and therefore the polyamide strips that can be used do not generally exceed 15,0 mm.

Integrated Management System Policy: quality and the Environment

We have been certified by Bureau Veritas both for manufacturing and designing polymer profiles since 2004.

We strive for the highest quality:

At STACMid, quality is not only a certification, but a philosophy and way of performing.

With this in mind, our Technical Department keeps in contact with the client at all times, to make sure all the specifications are fulfilled in the design and subsequent manufacturing process. In addition, this is accompanied by a permanent consulting service in order to meet all our client’s requirements.

We design all our dies and we monitor the whole manufacturing process, so all paperwork is continuously up-to-date.

We carefully choose all our suppliers so as they become our collaborators, as we consider quality concerns them too. They are part of our products.

We only use Polyamide 6.6 with 25% fibreglass of the highest quality so that all our strips comply with UNE 14024.

Thermal Break

The establishment of the new Technical Building Code (TBC) emphasizes the notion of sustainability.

At STAC, we wish to collaborate actively in order to build "the house of the future” through our means, by offering energy saving products for buildings and homes.

STACMID, a company division for polyamide profile manufacturing, was created to become a reference product in the fenestration sector.

The experience of our professionals in polymer profile extrusion has enabled us to successfully produce extruded polyamide 6.6 with 25% fibreglass.

A thermal break is an element of low thermal conductivity placed in an assembly to prevent the flow of thermal energy between conductive materials so that losses are significantly reduced. In the case of aluminium windows, a plastic separating profile is inserted into the aluminium that makes up the window frame.

The most commonly used “break” systems for aluminium windows and doors are polyamide 6.6 strips reinforced with 25% fibreglass. This is one of the few thermoplastic products which are authorized by the UNE-EN 14024 standard.
